Welcome to Freedom!
If you have found this site I want to welcome you. I and many others have felt your pain most of our lives. You are not crazy and your pain is not unique to yourself. Whether it's people, places, things, alcohol, drugs, gambling, spending, eating, sex or you are just F___ing Miserable, the 12 steps can help you find freedom from all that ails you. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Bob and Bill W. the founders of AA for showing us the way with the 12 Steps.
Everything you read and see on this site is borrowed from a 12 step program of recovery. Before finding a 12 step fellowship most of us were incapable facing life on its own terms(NA). We used something in our lives to help us deal with life. Over time that "Thing" consumed "Our Lives" and it ultimately controlled everything in our lives. Our lives became centered around it. No matter what we did we had to have the "Thing" above all else.
Initially we thought it helped us feel better but later it consumed our lives fueling our misery, We denied anyone or anything that interfered with our "Thing". Even when we lost jobs, loved ones, self respect and the ability to function in normal society, we continued on abusing ourselves day in and day out. If you are sick and tired of living this way and are ready to start a new life, I encourage you to use the resources on this site to began your journey to freedom.
The first step in your new way of life is recognizing your problem and then find a 12 step meeting in your community. Be honest about what is happening in your life. If that is too much for you, then go and listen and talk to someone after the meeting. Many of us are embarrassed and ashamed when we began to get honest with ourselves and wonder what is wrong with us. We are not "Bad People" trying to become "Good People", we have a disease that needs to be treated. This disease is call addiction! Whether that addiction is psychological, physical or both the "Thing" consumed our lives. We learn in 12 step meetings recovery is possible from our illness.
After finding a meeting those of us who applied ourselves rigorously to getting honest(AA) and working a 12 step recovery program found true freedom from what was actually controlling our lives. Our lives changed dramatically over time as we applied these principles in our lives, ultimately we found we could not do this alone.
We began to feel better as we realize our lives were actually were changing. For so long we felt different and over time isolated ourselves from the world and now we feel apart of our new fellowship. Our spirit which was dead before we got here now begins to awaken after all this time of abuse. One day we smile, the next day we may laugh and soon for the first time in a long time we begin to think about others in a positive way. As our spirit awakens we begin to find new possibilities in our lives.

"May I become at all times, both now and forever
A protector for those without protection
A guide for those who have lost their way
A ship for those with oceans to cross
A bridge for those with rivers to cross
A sanctuary for those in danger
A lamp for those without light
A place of refuge for those who lack shelter
And a servant to all in need."
